Rent-A-Thug #222 – Two Crooks, a Croc, and a Fine Pair of Shoes part 8

The transition between the warehouse at the docks and Nixon getting off the bus at the mall was so much more complicated in my head. Unfortunately, without some hardcore animation skills this is as good as it’ll get. The match cut isn’t one of the comics medium’s specialties. The bus stop sign is a reference to the sign at the stop where I catch the bus home from school. All of the numbers on it are actual ETS bus routes that run through the University bus loop. Which is probably only interesting to me. I’ve used that sign a few times now, if I remember correctly.

Croc Head isn’t exactly inconspicuous, which is why he’s hiding in the bushes. Okay, MOSTLY he’s just in there because I thought it was funny that he would be hiding in the bushes and jump out when Nixon got off the bus. And then afterward I came up with a rationale for him being in there in the first place.

I think I mentioned it before, but New Yak City is a pretty blatant parody of New York. New York is split up into boroughs, and so is New Yak City, of which Lyonsboro is one. Also, Walt lives there.

I finished Friday’s page last night while I was watching the Oilers/Capitals game. The Oilers crushing the Caps 5-2 was pretty much the opposite of what I was expecting to happen. I think Ryan Potulny must be some kind of good luck charm, because since he’s been called up Gilbert Brule has scored two highlight-reel goals, Steve MacIntyre scored his first NHL goal, and Erik Cole scored a hat-trick. Hopefully they can keep it up in Minnesota and Colordao. Those of you who don’t care about hockey can just pretend you didn’t read that.

Thanks for reading, see you Friday!
