Rent-A-Thug #114 – Great Thugs in History part 13
Charles training in preparation for the tournament was originally planned to go on longer than it did, but “he’s bad at shooting” can only sustain so many jokes before it gets stale. Thus, we jump ahead to the tournament itself and Charles using the medieval equivalent of the lead pipe to bust Robert Hoodwink upside the head, because he’s classy like that.
Yesterday was the Edmonton Collectible Toy and Comic Show, which was a lot of fun. First Offence sold pretty well and I picked up The Holiday Men: The Massacre Memorial Day Sale Massacre from Nick Johnson, the seedy individual responsible for the art. Andrew Foley wasn’t present, leading me to believe that “Foley” is in fact the name that Nick gives to one of the voices in his head which is responsible for writing the H-Men. That I’ve met Foley in person many times is unrelated to that theory. I also picked up Chris Peterson’s Peter the Pan, which is a horror version of the Peter Pan mythos and includes the most interesting implentation of author commentary that I’ve seen thus far. Mercy Seat Presents: Children Are Cruel was also released, which features a collaboration between writer Jay Bardyla and myself.
The online store, or Black Market as I prefer to call it, will launch later this week. I have a final exam tomorrow morning and have to write the bulk of a term paper to write so I can hand it in on Wednesday, so I probably won’t have time to put the finishing touches on the Black Market until Wednesday or Thursday. I’m also hoping to get the Mug Shots and Rap Sheets done for all of the characters that appear in First Offence up this week, so be on the look out for Sticky Mickey, Mr. Nixon, and Johnny Mushface appearing in that section.
I should probably be doing some academic things instead of writing a long-winded newspost, so I think I’ll wrap this up. Thanks for reading, see you on Wednesday!
