Rent-A-Thug #29 – Rules For Criminal Success #14

Sorry for the wonkily-sized strip yesterday, I went back and fixed it today so it doesn’t invoke the dreaded double scroll-bars (at least not on my monitor, anyway). I sort of got used to sizing the vertical pages so the strip format threw off my estimation of what would fit on the page properly.

I’m quite fond of this particular strip, which is the first appearance of Captain Impressive (his first appearance where he’s actually named is Protection Rackets & Head Trauma). As far as I can remember my inspiration for this strip was the thought that most superstrenghy-type heroes can throw a punch that’ll shatter an office building but when they smack around a supervillain’s goons the results are bruising at best. I wanted to explore what kind of damage a super-punch could do if the consequences of hitting an inanimate object were applied to a person. The results are still probably understated, though.

That’s enough from me for now, though. I’ll be back tomorrow with the last comic of the week, then it’s off to Pure Speculation.
