Rent-A-Thug #135 – Dinner With Daddy Dearest part 1

This is the first of six pages that make up the “Dinner With Daddy Dearest” short story, which will be finding its way into Tales From The Harbor Volume 4 when I get around to sending it to the editor. I’ve said this a ton of times already but it’s the most grounded Rent-A-Thug story so far (including the ones that I’ve got scripts for but haven’t drawn yet) in that it doesn’t have any gunfights, explosions, or super-powers. Not grounded in reality, which is overrated. Walt tends to lend himself to these sorts of stories since I’ve actually developed a family for him. For those of you who might come to miss the super-powers, explosions, and gunfights, don’t worry, they’ll be back soon. I’d miss drawing them too much to leave them out for long.

The establishing shot on this page is based on my neighbourhood, with the Walt’s house being based on my own. On the outside, at least. Except for the shed, which was added as Walt’s “work bench”.

Thanks for reading, see you Wednesday!
