Rent-A-Thug #259 – The Rabbit Hole part 2
Some of you might have noticed that I went back and changed the title of the last post a day or so after it went up because I thought of a better title. The original one was just… weak. The new title kind of gives away the silhouette of the villain, but meh.
The “no monologuing” joke is a result of having read superhero comics and TV Tropes. For those who may not be familiar, monologuing in this context is where the supervillain explains his evil plan entirely for the benefit of the reader while the other characters stand around and listen. I always found this especially funny when the villain was monologuing in front of just his henchmen. They’d been hired to carry out his evil plan, so chances are they already knew what it was, so explaining it out loud to nobody in particular would have probably come off as a really awkward work experience. Unless they just did whatever they felt like and the villain somehow cobbled a scheme out of it, which would be the most hilariously inefficient super-crime business model ever.
… Well I think I know what the next arc is going to be now.
The Doomsday/Doom afternoon joke might be the worst pun ever. I expect to be assassinated by an anti-pun consortium any day now.
I took a trip to Happy Harbor Comics V2 today to pick up the first issue of the new Atomic Robo series, “The Shadow From Beyond Time.” Which isn’t really noteworthy, aside from Atomic Robo being made out of a combination of pure joy and explosions. What IS noteworthy is that I also picked up one of the blank white Mighty Muggs. Mighty Mugg Charlie No-Aim? Hell yeah.
Thanks for reading! Have a good weekend and I’ll see you on Monday.
