Mr. Nixon’s mask was difficult to get nailed down in the early stuff. It’s design is based on Richard Nixon’s Head on Futurama. By now I’ve got Nixon down (in fact I’m just finishing up a six page short story featuring Nixon and Sticky Mickey for the print book), but he was easily the toughest character to get used to drawing. I think it’s because I kept trying to fit all the details of his mask into every drawing so his head usually ended up being too big.
Unrelatedly, all of my major assignments are due within a ten day span starting next Tuesday. Thanks, university faculty. No, really, thanks. I totally didn’t want to have a life outside of writing papers that week anyway. If there’s a distinct lack of update-age during that period, that’s why.
