Rent-A-Thug #262 – The Rabbit Hole part 5
And the awkward discussion between Edgar Jones and Rabbitor continues. This arc has been influenced quite a bit by the TV shows Frisky Dingo and Sealab 2021, which are based almost entirely on awkward situations and weird banter. Not a lot actually happens, plot-wise, and the animation isn’t the greatest, but it doesn’t really matter since the dialogue is really what the show is about. Frisky Dingo has been on Teletoon (the Canadian equivalent to the Cartoon Network) recently during a good time slot (ie. one where there isn’t anything else on). Rabbitor might just be even MORE ineffectual than Killface, though. At least Killface is all huge and scary, and built the Annihilatrix.
I knew from the start that this arc would have some kind of joke about using non-union labour in it. I didn’t think it would be quite this odd, though. The part about breaks and work days less than 32 hours probably could have carried an entire strip on its own. I’m not sure where the line about not letting the construction minions anywhere near pens came from, but I like the subtext of it. I might play with that a little more when the construction minions actually show up.
I can’t remember if I talked about it on Friday or not, but I got quite a bit of painting done on Mighty Mugg Charlie No-Aim. His head needs another coat of paint or two, but other than that all that’s left are the details (outlining stuff in black, the moose on his t-shirt, the stripes on his shoes, etc.).
Thanks for reading, see you Friday!
