Rent-A-Thug #201 – King of the Streets part 31
Sorry for the late update, but I had a bunch of school work due in the last couple of days and didn’t have time to finish the page in time to update yesterday. I figure two late updates in 201 pages is a pretty good ratio.
It didn’t occur to me until I drew this page, but Squidgy being introduced by smashing through a wall pretty much foreshadowed his game plan on this page. I’ve always been fond of the big brute characters in superhero comics, the ones like Rhino who just smash things. Part of what I like is that they usually have simple powers. No awkward explanations of how they work, you just look at the page and it’s all right there. I’ve always disliked it in comics when characters have to explain their powers because the reader has no idea what’s going on if they’re just looking at the picture.
I had a note in my script to try to fit some visual gags into the fourth panel where the crooks are going through the safety deposit boxes in the vault. They’re more weird than funny, but I like them. They’re a bit small after re-sizing the page, though. In the foreground, the Skull gang member is holding an eye floating in a jar. The one in the back is a birthday cake too large to actually fit into the box.
Thanks for reading, see you Friday!
